The Philippines is located off the southeast coast of Asia, between Taiwan in the north and Borneo in the south, and is readily accessible from the various travel capitals of the world. Stretching 1,840 kilometers north to south, the country has a land area of about 300,000 sq km and is divided into three main geographical areas; Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The country's tropical climate is accompanied with relatively abundant rainfall. The wet or rainy season is from June to October; November to February is dry and cool; and the hot or dry season is from March to May.

There are about 80 million Filipinos where more than half of the total population are settled in Luzon, the largest island group. Manila, the capital, is the hub of a number of major commercial and business activity in the country.

While there are over 100 dialects spoken, the national language is Filipino. The second non-official language is English which is widely used in business negotiations and in the government. Being so, the country ranks as the world's third largest English-speaking country, after the United States and the United Kingdom.

           Production Platforms

The existing seven platforms in the Philippines are all located in offshore Northwest Palawan servicing the Malampaya natural gas production and the Matinloc and Nido oil production. The other platforms are shut-in indefinitely.

           Pipelines

Offshore NW Palawan, the Malampaya natural gas is delivered to the onshore gas processing plant in Batangas. The gas is then supplied through onshore pipelines to Sta. Rita, San Lorenzo and Ilijan power plants, all in Batangas province in Luzon.

Crude oil pipeline exists in the country and runs from Batangas to Pandacan in Manila.

The proposed natural gas pipelines from Batangas to Manila including spur lines will pass through economic zones in Laguna province, south of Manila.
