Final Report - Tsunami Risk Reduction Measures with Focus on Landuse and Rehabilitation Project

This is the final report of the successfully completed DMR-CCOP Project on “Tsunami Risk Reduction Measures with focus on Landuse and Rehabilitation”,  an 8-month fast- track study supported by the Royal Norwegian Government that was carried out by the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) shortly after the disastrous December 26, 2004 tsunami. The objective of the project is to assess the seismic and tsunami risks and develop a tsunami reconstruction and rehabilitation strategy, with focus on 3 case study areas in the southwestern coast of Thailand.   Besides Thailand, the results of the study will also be of use to other countries in the Indian Ocean region, particularly those that were also impacted by the December 26 2004 Tsunami.
