Technical Seminar on Jurassic – Cretaceous Boundary of Southeast Asia

The Technical Seminar on Jurassic – Cretaceous Boundary of Southeast Asia jointly organized by the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) Thailand and the CCOP Technical Secretariat, was successfully carried out on 1 September at the Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand with 98 participants from various agencies in Thailand.  The Seminar started with welcoming remarks by Dr Adichat Surinkum, Director of the CCOP Technical Secretariat and opening address by Dr. Tawsaporn Nuchanong, Director General of DMR, President of Geological Society of Thailand and Permanent Representative of Thailand to CCOP.

Experts from Cambodia, Malaysia and Thailand made presentations at the seminar as follows:

• Jurassic Formation of Cambodia by Sieng Sotham, Deputy Director General, General Department of Mineral Resources, Ministry of Mines and Energy, The Kingdom of Cambodia
• Jurassic-Cretaceous Stratigraphy of Malaysia by Mat Niza Bin Abdul Rahman, Technical Services Division, Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia
• Jurassic Stratigraphy of Thailand and Lao PDR by Dr. Pradit Nulay, Senior Geologist, Office of Mineral Resource Regional 2, Department of Mineral Resources, Thailand
• Jurassic – Cretaceous Fauna of Thailand by Dr Sasidhorn Khansubha, Department of Mineral Resources, Thailand

The Seminar ended by a panel discussion on the topic.  Panelists were
