KIGAM/ISGeo training course on “Petroleum Exploration, Development and Production” was conducted from 6thMarch to 31stMarch, 2017 in Daejeon, Republic of Korea, in collaboration with CCOP for its member countries. A total of 22 trainees, 16 from CCOP Member Countries (China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) attended the course, together with other international participants.
The training course provided participants with an introduction to key aspects of energy resources related to the petroleum industry. The contents of the course comprised a general overview on petroleum economics, petroleum geology, reservoir & sequence stratigraphy, reservoir geophysics & petrophysics, petroleum engineering & unconventional resources. Many instructors were involved in the course. Various other activities were also included in the training course. This includes KIGAM Lab tour, country report briefing and Korean Language & cultural class. Participants visited several KIGAM labs including Gas Hydrate Dept., Underground Space Dept., Pilot Plant for mineral processing, Geological Museum, and energy related governmental institute.
Overall, the training course has been successfully organized. It reached the targets and had benefited all the participants. The petroleum and energy network established should be maintained and developed further for future collaborative activities.
