Dato' Yunus Abd Razak has retired as Director General of JMG


Dato' Yunus Abd Razak, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to CCOP, has retired as Director General of the Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia (JMG) on the 11 September 2015. He is succeeded by Mr. Mior Sallehhuddin Bin Mior Jadid.
 
Dato' Yunus Abd Razak earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology from School of Geology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and his Master of Science in Engineering Geology from University of London. He started his career in the Minerals and Geoscience Department Malaysia (formerly known as Geological Survey Department) on the 16 April 1979. He assumed various positions in the department prior to his appointment as Director General in 2005. For his services to the nation he was awarded with the Darjah Dato' Setia DiRaja Kedah (DSDK), which carries the title Dato', by the Sultan of Kedah (Malaysia) in 2008.
 
Dato’ Yunus is Chairman of the Malaysian National Committee for International Geoscience Programme (IGCP) and President of the Institute of Geology Malaysia (IGM), and in the past he has served as chairperson of the Steering Committee of the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programme in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP) and Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM). He is also an Honorary Fellow at Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), UKM.
