On May 27th 2019, Dr.Young Joo Lee, Director of CCOP TS, along with Ms.Marivic Pulvera Uzarraga, Manager, Project Operation and Information of CCOPTS, officially visited the Finland Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.
On behalf of the Honorable Ambassador Suikkari-Kleven, Mr Heikki Karhu, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Finland, Bangkok, and Ms Leeni Toivanen, Junior Desk Officer welcomed the director of CCOP and staff.
Mr. Karhu was informed about the recent position of Dr. Lee as the Director of CCOPTS. The Director then introduced CCOP and suggested a couple of activities for Finland’s consideration of cooperation and funding. The activities were, Urban Geology linked with GIS and Smart City and DTK-KIGAM cooperation on groundwater management.
Additionally, Mr. Karhu mentioned that Finland’s current areas of interest in the region are World Bank funded projects such as Urban Geology and Groundwater Collaborations, Geological Information System, Bio-economy, use of biomass, and plastic recycling in Thailand.
Dr. Lee mentioned about the Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration/Storage (CCS) such as utilizing CO2 making Green Cement and high quality paper and Carbon Capture and Sequestration/Storage (CCS) such as the mapping of CO2 storage to answer Mr. Karhu’s inquiry related to activities on climate change.
With appreciation of CCOP establishing relationship with the Finland Embassy in Bangkok, Mr. Karhu expressed interest in participating in the 55th CCOP Annual Session in Chiangmai, Thailand.
