Dr. Kyoung-Woong Kim, Director of the International Environmental Research Institute (IERI) and Professor of the School of Earth Sciences and Environmental Engineering, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Republic of Korea, visited the CCOPTS and introduced IERI and GIST. IERI was founded in 2001 with the purpose of establishing a research institute for the United Nations University (UNU) at GIST. Since then IERI has been contributing to the improvement of the international environment both domestically and overseas, by educating researchers and supporting technologies in developing countries, as well as R&D to cope with climate change through joint activities on international environmental research.
